Safety When Traveling Abroad

09 Feb

Avoid bringing too much valuables
You do not want to attract muggers or even tourists of a different kind. As much as possible, bring only what is necessry. In case of a shopping spree, keep your money in a bag or in your pocket and avoid displaying wads of money.

Dress appropriately
Dress for the weather. When traveling in several places, especially during summer, it is best to wear clothes made of light materials. It is also advisable to wear sturby yet comfortable foot wear when exploring a place since it entails a day’s worth of walking. When engaging in any leisurely activity such as scuba diving or mountain climbing, always make sure that you are fully equipped and covered to prevent minor injuries. Remember, when traveling, safety and comprt are always paramount over fashion.

Be wary of your surroundings
Avoid traveling alone, especially at night when muggers prowl in dark. Travel in groups or at least have one companion with you.

When Traveling Abroad

08 Jan

When traveling abroad, make it a point to research about your chosen destination. Be familiar about the culture, local laws, costums, and, if any rites and rituals, of the place. In tish way, you do not run the risk of offending the locals and possibly running into trouble.

First to consider is to Protect yourself. When entering a remote area, make sure to apply insect repellent lotions, creams or sprays. In its absence, opt to wear long sleeved shirts and long pants to cover the rest of your skin. Also, never forget to bring your stocked medicine kit for common illnesses such as diarrhea, headache and the likes. If you are on medication, be sure to label your medicines accordingly and prepare a schedule of your intake, if necessary.

According to expert we must mark our luggage. In case of loss, labeled luggage is retured to its owner immediately, for obvious reasons. To be safe, never leave your belongings unattended.

Preparing Foods “To Go” The Distance

21 Nov

For some reason we have the inborn habit of branging food wherever we go. We need “baon” just in case there is no food to buy when we get hungry. The following we are few easy pre-travel food preparation tips:
Wash hands with soap and water bofore preparing sandwiches and packing them in cellophane. When switching tasks, such as handling raw and then cutting vegetables or peeling fruits, wash hands thoroughly. also, make sure food preparation surfaces after long storage.
Be sure to pack moist toweletters to clean up before digging in your food bag.
In hot weather, transport perishable food in a cooler (packed with ice or ice packs) or in the back seat of an air conditioned car instead of the trunk. It’s geat if you have a refrigerator thermometer to ensure the temperature reamins below 40′F.
If traveling by plane or bus where space is tight, freeze a juice box or yo gurt for a chilly treat that will also help keep other foods cool. Pack foods in a small, soft-cover travel cooler that will conveniently slip under the seat. Or give each family member his or her own insulated luch bag full of their own favorites.
If stopping in a scenic roadside for a mid-trip picnic and cook-out, remember to grill foods to proper and safe temperatures: hamburgers (at least 160′F), hot dogs (reheat to 160′F), and chicken (170′F). pack raw meats for the trip in a cooler, placing them in a well-sealed container or wrapping tighly in saran foil. Be sure to seperate them from other packed foods as raw juices from the meat can easily contaminate ready-to-eat foods.
Don’t forget that carry-out and fast food are also susceptible to food piosoning if not properly handled. If not eaten or refrigerated within two hours, toss it out.
Carry chilled fruits with skin on like bananas, apples and oranges as they are refreshing to munch on the way.

Any or all of which can spoil if not kept at proper temperatures.
The survey also reveals 30 percent leave the food they bring unrefrigerated for three to four hours, and 15 percent leave it out for more than four hours. This can create a food safety hazard for travelers and their companions. Perishable food should never be left out and unrefrigerated for more than two hours, the piont at which harmful bacteria begin to multiply rapidly. In hot weather (above 90′F), time is reduced to one hour.
